Golf is a beautifully intriguing, difficult, and for many of us, a frustrating game. Although the game can push people to the edge, I have seen average players become very proficient through the years of their dedication, through their love of the sport, and the spiritual feeling that comes with their improvement that can be measured with “beating the monster” that lives inside each of us and the “monster” that is presented in front of us in all the beauty of each and every golf course upon which we walk.
Formulating My Philosophy
Golf is certainly not a sprint, but, as in life, a wonderfully patient marathon full of ups and downs, victories and heart-breaking defeats. Each burns into the soul of the true golfer, spurring on a contagious will to improve, feeding the fire that drives us into being the best that one can be. Golf has a different meaning for each player, but for the avid enthusiast, there is a constant drive and will to improve.
Every sport has this element in its soul, but in the game of golf, the battle is waged alone, against the ego inside, and against the playing fields of beauty that immerse our visual senses.
The Birth of FlyGolf
Bobby Jones was spot on when he said “Golf is the only game I know that becomes harder the longer you play it”. Time is a cruel demon that can put a barrier between what we desire and what we know is possible.
FlyGolf was born to help dissolve that barrier.
The industry is dense with literature, pundits and teachers espousing opinions on how to be a better golfer. Of course, there are some methods we apply in this game that are important and necessary. Yet, as I look at the history throughout the game, there really are no two golf club swing styles and methods that are exactly alike. There are indeed hundreds of different styles and methods that could, and do, produce the results of champions and extremely efficient and complete golfers. Consider Jim Furyk’s unconventional swing and Brooks Koepka’s more conventional swing. Both champion golfers. So, as Arnold Palmer so famously said, “Swing YOUR swing.”
Taking Command & Control Of The Ball
What is simple and pure is the fact that EVERY player wishes to have command and control over the flight of the golf ball that player is about to send forward. Should we not then understand how a golf ball is designed to “fly”? And should we not have the best tools to transmit the correct information to the golf ball so it could “fly” the way we desire it? And also, shouldn’t we absorb the honest feedback of the flight of the ball so that we can create the correct habits that enable us to repeat that again and again? These questions determine and create a defined path for each swing of the golf club, and must be considered when designing custom fit clubs.
